Na een maandenlang proces is de spreekwoordelijk kogel door de kerk: Miss Beauty of the Netherlands is de gloednieuwe eigenaar van Miss Universe Netherlands. De grootste missverkiezingsorganisatie in Nederland heeft hiermee het exclusieve recht om een jonge vrouw te verkiezen die Nederland dit jaar vertegenwoordigt bij de 73^e editie Miss Universe in Mexico.

Droogte doorbreken

Miss Universe Netherlands was meer dan 15 jaar in handen van Miss Nederland. Het is daarmee een historisch moment dat een andere missverkiezingsorganisatie iemand naar Miss Universe mag sturen. In september 2023 werd voor het eerst de aanmeldprocedure opengesteld voor andere organisaties. Milou Verhoeks, zelf ooit miss, die al 10 jaar geleden de Miss Beauty of the Netherlands organisatie runt zag dit als een mooie kans om ervoor te gaan. Na een nauwkeurige beoordeling verkoos Miss Universe dit jaar Miss Beauty of the Netherlands boven hun jarenlange partner Miss Nederland.

Doordat de licentie nu na vele jaren in handen is van een nieuwe organisatie, hoopt Miss Beauty of the Netherlands het tij te keren bij Miss Universe. Nederland wist namelijk sinds 2014 niet meer de top te bereiken bij ’s werelds grootste internationale missverkiezing. Presidenten Milou Verhoeks en Tessa le Conge: “Wij zijn ongekend trots dat wij vanaf nu partner zijn van Miss Universe. Met een frisse wind, nieuwe energie en ambitie gaan wij ervoor om Nederland, en daarmee Europa, weer op de kaart te zetten bij Miss Universe. Te lang wist Nederland zich niet te plaatsen en wij zijn overtuigd dat wij met onze kennis en kracht de droogte gaan doorbreken.”

Voor vrouwen, door vrouwen

Miss Beauty of the Netherlands is een ‘all women’ organisatie. De organisatie die door vrouwen gerund wordt, streeft ernaar om het beste in Nederlandse jonge vrouwen naar boven te halen, hun ambities te verwezenlijken en zelfvertrouwen op te bouwen. Met ruim 3.000 aanmeldingen per jaar is het de grootste missverkiezing van Nederland. Binnen elke provincie vindt een voorverkiezing plaats, waardoor elke provincie gerepresenteerd wordt op het landelijke podium. Miss Beauty of the Netherlands heeft de afgelopen 8 jaar al groot succes geboekt bij andere grote internationale missverkiezingen. Zo behaalden de Nederlandse titelhouders al 7 jaar op rij de top 8 bij Miss Earth, waar jaarlijks zo’n 90 landen wereldwijd aan deelnemen en wonnen ze zelfs meerdere verkiezingen waaronder Miss Teen Universe en Miss Asia Pacific International.

In juli 2024 verkiest Miss Beauty of the Netherlands de gelukkige die Nederland mag vertegenwoordigen bij Miss Universe 2024.

Miss Beauty of the Netherlands New Owner of Miss Universe Netherlands

After months of selection process, the final decision was there: Miss Beauty of the Netherlands is the brand-new owner of Miss Universe Netherlands. With this, the largest beauty pageant organization in the Netherlands holds the exclusive right to select a young woman to represent the Netherlands at the 73rd edition of Miss Universe in Mexico this year.

Breaking the Drought

Miss Universe Netherlands had been in the hands of Miss Nederland for over 15 years. Therefore, it marks a historic moment that a different beauty pageant organization may send someone to Miss Universe. In September 2023, the application process was opened to other organizations for the first time. Milou Verhoeks, herself a former Miss, who has been running the Miss Beauty of the Netherlands organization for the past 10 years, saw this as a great opportunity to pursue. After careful consideration, Miss Universe chose Miss Beauty of the Netherlands over their longstanding partner, Miss Nederland, this year.

With the license now held by a new organization after many years, Miss Beauty of the Netherlands hopes to turn the tide at Miss Universe. Since 2014, the Netherlands has failed to reach the top at the world’s largest international beauty pageant. Presidents Milou Verhoeks and Tessa le Conge stated, “We are incredibly proud to be partners with Miss Universe from now on. With a fresh approach, new energy, and ambition, we aim to put the Netherlands back on the map at Miss Universe. For too long, the Netherlands has failed to make an impact, and we are convinced that with our knowledge and strength, we will break this drought.”

Miss Beauty of the Netherlands is an ‘all women’ organization. Run by women, including former beauty queens, the organization strives to bring out the best in young Dutch women, fulfill their ambitions, and build their self-confidence. With over 3,000 applications per year, it is the largest beauty pageant in the Netherlands. Preliminary rounds are held in each province, ensuring representation from every region on the national stage. Over the past 8 years, Miss Beauty of the Netherlands has achieved significant success in other major international beauty pageants. Dutch titleholders have consistently made it to the top 8 at Miss Earth for 7 consecutive years, where around 90 countries participate annually, and they have even won multiple contests, including Miss Teen Universe and Miss Asia Pacific International.

In July 2024, during a brand new Miss Universe Netherlands finale, the organization of Miss Beauty of the Netherlands will select the lucky individual who will represent the Netherlands at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico.
